In 1999 Jeremy set off for San Diego with a collection of tools and a passion forwoodworking. He was immediately drawn to the creative spirit enveloping Cedros Avenue in Solana Beach. Here he began working with David Bardwick, a prominent figure in the Cedros Design District, designing and building pieces for the newly remodeled Trios Gallery.
While visiting South East Asia, Jeremy was taken in by a Malay craftsman and taught about the tools and techniques used in this part of the world. Here he continued to grow in the appreciation of ri ch tropical woods as well as the design aesthetic of Asia.
Jeremy was later mentored by Tim O’Brien who was formally trained under James Krenov at the College of The Redwoods. Studying with O’brien helped him hone his skills both as a craftsman and artisan.
Jeremy returned home to San Diego in early 2003. The years of study, mentorship and experience had matured into a deep love of the art of woodworking. Liontree Woodworking was born out of this devotion. In the first year, Jeremy joined a woodworking co-operative on Cedros Avenue. The following year, Jeremy was graciously offered a new studio space in which he was able to work for a few wonderful years. This space prompted much inspiration towards the designing and building of his personal and unique studio.
In April 2007, Liontree opened their premier studio in the hills above Lake Hodges, about 15 minutes from Solana Beach. With magnificent views of the lake and nature all around, being truly inspired to pour themselves into the art and craft.
